Since the opening of internet for public usage, it has been deployed for almost everything enabling users to reach out for anything just at a single click while sitting back at their homes. One such aspect of internet which has been gaining popularity at a rapid rate is online virtual casinos, providing for online poker. Online poker is a game which can either be played by a single player against computer or by more than one player against each other.
Poker has evolved as a premium way of entertainment and in the year 2004 alone the game generated revenues over $1.4 billion in USA. While the general game of poker has a rich history and its origin dates back to several thousand years back, the history of the origin of online poker is relatively short when compared to it.
The first online poker site was opened to public in the year 1998 and was named planetpoker.com. The site had various shortcomings and issues in the beginning. The biggest of them all being the word of trust and people were hesitant to invest their real money with the site. Eventually with time they were able to resolve the issues and since then there had been no looking back.

Poker is one of the best ways to gamble online. You can make a large amount of money from gambling on poker, and you can even make additional money through rakeback. Rakeback is being used by many casinos and online poker rooms to encourage their customers to come back and gamble even more.
Poker rakeback relates to the casino’s portion of the pot, also called the rake. When you play poker in select casinos or online poker rooms the casino will give back part of the pot, usually a small percentage. Most of the time, your poker rakeback will be through a third party. This is due to the casino wanting to separate itself from the poker rakeback promotion, as it requires additional work and effort on the casinos part. Try to avoid these types of poker rakeback promotions, as they may not always be legitimate.

Daniel Negreanu is one of the most successful live poker players in the world (both in live tournaments and in the live high stakes cash games) for over a decade, and in this interview with Amanda Leatherman he talks about how he feels about the differences between live poker and online poker.
I like how he talks about the absence of tells and other little things in online poker, and I also believe he’s correct in saying this:
A successful online player will be successful in live poker. A successful live poker player will not necessarily be a successful online poker player.

Remember our last post? Teh Jinx Poker is one aggressive player and today he shows off a hand in which he calls down an all-in after pot-committing himself with the big re-raise holding 7d7c.
He explained to me on Instant Messenger that his opponent was raising close to every pot and that he had decided to take a stand with any pair sevens or higher, any ace jack or higher and any KQ suited.
In one of his higher stakes games, i’m happy for him. Always good to flop a set in a race — and the river only made things better…

I’m not a big heads-up player myself as I enjoy the fact that I’m way more patient and way more disciplined than most online players, but for those of you who do like to play heads-up tournaments, this Re-Raise/Shove Heads-Up Poker Strategy that’s being explained at Teh Jinx Poker is an excellent play…
It’s basicly taking advantage of the simple basics of heads-up poker: “Be agressive, the flop probably didn’t help the other guy out”. The advantage you have by first re-raising, is that any opponent could (and maybe should) put you on a big pair, or an AK, AQ — depending on what came on the flop.

Despite the celebrity status that many professional players have gained over the last several years, there are still people who do not believe that a poker player can be a winner over the long term on skill alone. These skeptics may concede that some players have won significant sums of money at the game, but they chalk the winning up to ‘luck’ or ‘good cards’. Some people are just naturally cynical and find the idea of gambling for a living too good to be true; yet many others let their own negative experiences skew their beliefs.
Members of the latter group label themselves unlucky and say, “Well, I play correctly, but my pocket aces always lose to 6-7 suited or some other trash, so poker must be all luck.” These players are either not as good as they think they are, or they have not played nearly enough to show a profit from their good play. Regardless of what non-believers say, it is possible, albeit very difficult, to a winning player at poker over the long haul.
