One such aspect of internet which has been gaining popularity at a rapid rate is online virtual casinos, providing for online poker. Online poker is a game which can either be played by a single player against computer or by more than one player against each other.

Poker has evolved as a premium way of entertainment and in the year 2004 alone the game generated revenues over $1.4 billion in USA. While the general game of poker has a rich history and its origin dates back to several thousand years back, the history of the origin of the online casino and online poker is relatively short when compared to it.

The first online poker site was opened to public in the year 1998 and was named planetpoker.com. The site had various shortcomings and issues in the beginning. The biggest of them all being the word of trust and people were hesitant to invest their real money with the site. Eventually with time they were able to resolve the issues and since then there had been no looking back.

Now, we have such amazing things as Full Tilt Rakeback, online bad beat bonusses etc… All great for players!

Poker is one of the best ways to gamble online. You can make a large amount of money from gambling on poker, and you can even make additional money through rakeback. Rakeback is being used by many casinos and online poker rooms to encourage their customers to come back and gamble even more.

Poker rakeback relates to the casino’s portion of the pot, also called the rake. When you play poker in select casinos or online poker rooms the casino will give back part of the pot, usually a small percentage. Most of the time, your poker rakeback will be through a third party. This is due to the casino wanting to separate itself from the poker rakeback promotion, as it requires additional work and effort on the casinos part. Try to avoid these types of poker rakeback promotions, as they may not always be legitimate.

Many poker rakeback rooms provided cash back poker rakebacks. However, due to concerns over fraud and other abuse, many poker rooms are starting to use points for poker rakeback. Full Tilt Poker is one of the most famous examples of this. For every dollar you would get from rakeback, Full Tilt Poker gives you a point. These points can be used to purchase items from a redemption store and enter into special tournaments. Outside companies still give Full Tilt Rakeback in cash, though!

Whether you play poker in a casino or on an online poker room, there are plenty of poker companies that will provide you with a poker rakeback. Make sure you know whether it is a cash rakeback (full tilt rakeback, for example can be in cash money!) or a point rakeback (like Pokerstars has), and go to town playing your favorite game of poker!

Daniel Negreanu is one of the most successful live poker players in the world (both in live tournaments and in the live high stakes cash games) for over a decade, and in this interview with Amanda Leatherman he talks about how he feels about the differences between live poker and online poker.

I like how he talks about the absence of tells and other little things in online poker, and I also believe he’s correct in saying this:

A successful online player will be successful in live poker. A successful live poker player will not necessarily be a successful online poker player.
